Nice summary. While there will be debate regarding line-item inclusions/omissions based upon our individual preferences, I too believe that strategically this TA appears to lack the value that can/should be accrued given the operational landscape (company arguably on its knees) and what we as a professional crew force SHOULD assess as our value. Previously, I have been a part of a union of 10,000+ pilots that internalized this concept and secured a historic contract in more challenging of conditions. Leadership is required to open this aperture with the crew force. Here, the narrow focus on the specifics ("this TA gives us 75% of our openers") appears to overshadow the broader inference (albeit premature) that this TA does not properly reflect its potential, given the current environment and a more worthy assessment of our value as FedEx pilots. Once again, we seem to be satisfied with mediocrity because "trust us--it is just a tough negotiating environment out there."
We should at least have an opportunity to intelligently refine this TA in a short timeframe, but the inference from the MEC statements does not suggest this option...It is inappropriate to receive a TA for review while being told "take this now or else who knows when we have another opportunity." We waited years--why the rush to settle for mediocrity?
That is the problem, period.
