Just never forget that a much larger percentage of those retirements than many seem to believe can be washed away quickly with every contractual efficiency and work rule concession we give up. Losing guys off the top is great as long as the same number of guys are needed to replace them.
And don't forget about the lost 747 jobs, they are parking those airplanes faster than guys are retiring, leading to a net surplus of senior pilots being displaced to lower paying A330 jobs.
Meanwhile...the MD-11 were content to switch our JV Scope measure from Seat Miles to Block Hours, which would make one of our 757's flying to Europe equal to a KLM/Air France A380 flying to ATL!
