United is $0. But they charge for upgrades. That is if you ever get first. Much more for international. It's about $15-25 fly domestic. I paid $175 for business class, NRT-IAD. Worth it to me. You can add a travel companion for $100. If you don't have a spouse, you can add a second companion for $200. They will pay for each flight they take though.
U.S. Airways is going away and being replaced by AA. You have to be based in ORD or PHX for AA benefits. They are worthless anyway.
Delta. It's $50 per person, up to $200 max for the year. You can also add step parents for a total of 4 parents, which I like. United can't do that. If not married, you can add a travel companion that pays yield fare for each flight. Delta doesn't charge for upgrade. Rare to get upgraded on domestic but easy to find open business class on international flight depending on season and destination. Again, you must fly the CRJ for Delta benefits.
We also have Zed fare agreements to take many foreign airlines if you want to do some local travel while overseas. They are available for your parents, and kids. Not your companion.
Of course, you yourself can Jumpseat on any airline, including Fedex, UPS, Atlas.
