They are doing what they do because they can. So long as 70 airplanes are still arriving and upgrades start at 0 months, there is no reason to change anything. We'll just start back up at 60 new hires per month beating the door down. No changes required at the moment.
That's my point. We will see if they are still coming to the door in a few months. The fast upgrade is over if people don't start moving off the top. Remember, we are supposedly staffed for all our aircraft, according to management. We are now hiring to cover attrition. I ask what attrition? The DEC will be out of here to go to other carriers, so that's less than 100 off the bottom of the list. Are we really going to lose 1000 Captains to keep the movement going? The fast upgrade is over and we can't hide it anymore. The bodies are going to stop showing up. The company could have thought ahead to prevent that but they want to be big toughies instead. Will AA allow us to fail? Probably not. It will be interesting to see what happens at the management level when we start falling off the rails in a year or so.
