Okay... long time reader, first time poster. I read this thread from time to time and I am always shaking my head, and many times in disbelief over some of the things that are being said on here.

So many people have such bad attitudes about this new contract. I would say 80% of the people I fly with say the same thing: "Why should we get leading industry pay? Why should we make as much as American Airlines or Delta pilots? We aren't anywhere near their size." Hate to break it to ya fellas - IT DOESN'T MATTER. We are the MOST PROFITABLE airline percentage wise.

Yes, they have more airplanes, they go worldwide with a much larger route structure, they make more money dollar wise. But with that comes more expenses, too! Spirit is hiring employees because of GROWTH, AA is hiring mainly because of ATTRITION - retirements. When the next financial disaster happens, and it will, I'd personally rather be with the airline that has cash in the bank to support the growth as well as the economic pitfalls. AA is the biggest airline in the world - big deal. I remember Eastern, too.

We do the same job. We carry the same people (more actually - per aircraft). There is absolutely no reason why the Spirit pilot group should make any less than the same professionals in the same equipment.

As somebody said earlier - it's because of attitudes like that we will see the first TA be voted in. Stop being scared people. The company has bigger and better things (in THEIR eyes) and they NEED this contract QUICK. Lets take advantage of that.
