There was a USAF 707 guy who was in my interview group who told us while we were waiting that he had already talked to recruiters at majors who said he just needed more time in the last six months. No doubt that the military has rigorous training and standards, but seems that showing you can function in the 121 world by making it through initial qual at a regional is not just desired by majors but encouraged.

Oh, and sure enough that 707 guy was off the seniority list no more than 6 months later.
