Hubble,
Sorry to offend you. AA is currently hiring and taking on new hires from flow throughs and occasional OTS.
Someone in mgmt knows the real truth as to what kind of timeline could/should be expected for the poolees but for some reason is not communicating it to people who have wives/kids/other jobs to plan around.
I just think its a real shame the way they pool people with absolutely no information to help them to make life decisions for them and their families.
I'm sure there are a few poolees who have stopped pursuing other options because they were in the AA pool and ostensibly on their way to their career airline.
There may have been in a time warp where the company decided it didn't need as many OTS due to flow throughs, but you'd think somewhere in the previous 12 months they'd expressed that concern so that people (who will be with AA eventually) don't join the company with a bitter taste in their mouth. Just a wee bit of information would do the trick.
But alas, AA mgmt always seems to pick the most callous/cold policy towards it's junior pilots and always has. Charging a fee to non-rev/commute, nearly immediately cutting off their furloughees from non-rev passes, no J/S on furlough, etc.
Sorry if it's offensive, but AA mgmt historically has been h#%ll bent on embittering it's junior pilots even during the exact moment they should be the most enthusiastic and happy with mgmt, hence waiting in a new hire pool devoid of any factual information.
