Has anyone actually heard anything concrete with regards to a merger, other than what's fresh out of the rumor mill? Frontier pilots hear they are merging with Spirit, Spirit pilots hear they're buying Frontier, and we've heard rumors of merging with both airlines over the past several years. Just rumors. And all of the excitement coming out of the CP's office? Unless it's a contract, I'm not sure what all of the craze is about.
And a merger with F9? Several issues that would be bad for us:
Their pilot group HATES the Teamsters, with a passion. There's still some serious bad-blood after the Republic integration debacle. Yes, the list was reversed, but the damage was done. Don't believe me? Go jumpseat and show up with your Teamster's lanyard. Chances are you'll get an earful. With all of that hate, what better way to break the union than to integrate us with a group that would surely vote the Teamsters out.
Additionally, better contract?? Maybe in some respects. But their pay-rates are (surprisingly) worse and they don't have our sick policy.
These points are all moot anyways. There's been no announcement. And if there is an announcement, chances are that it's just an airplane order with more routes and growth. You know...the kinds of things management thinks will excite us and entice us in to staying.
