If the contractor can't staff your flying, are you just going to deal with the cancelled flights? No, you take them over ala Pinnacle, or you pay them more money so they can pay their pilots more, so they can staff their flying.
Again, if they decide not to pay Republic more money, then Republic won't be able to staff their flying and someone else will. Problem is, no other regional can staff that flying now, unless they make more money.
Nope. The majors don't "have" to do a damn thing. It's their money. They don't "have" to share it with the competition. It's a null point now anyways. Republic slit its own throat years ago and is barely keeping it's head above the shark infested waters. Contrary to popular belief, there's plenty of other regionals out there that could almost instantaneously take over Republics planes and flying along with a fresh glut of over 2000 pilots that will all have to start over as year one FO's. This will be the continuing trend as regionals start to fail. Republic is just leading the pack.
