Most airline insurance plans - even at regionals - meet the new Obamacare definition and will be taxed at a whopping 40%. That another $700 in taxes on a single plan, and another $1400 on a family plan.

In additional, one of the demands made by AAG to all three WO's was increased contributions. Envoy will go from 30% employee match to 35% employee match over a 5 year period. The others have similar provisions in their CBA.

Frankly, it's one of the things that they should give back at all three WO's

Is it good insurance? They are self insured and use BC&BS to administer the plan. Because they are self insured they fall under slightly different rules than an actual insurance company. Some things they cover more than required, and some things less or not at all. The yearly deductible has increased over the years but is still less than at some larger carriers.

Overall it's not bad; but it isn't the best either. I think we'd get better coverage from a group HMO. They say the most profitable industry on the planet is the insurance industry; it's no wonder they insist on being self insured.
