He should contact SWAPA benefits and his Chief Pilot. There is staff there full time that can help in his situation. I know we have a PMA fund, but I believe it is for medical issues after sick leave has run out and not for family issues.
The company is pretty good about working with employees who legitimately need time off. A lot of times a visit to the chief pilot will get the ball rolling that will allow someone to take the time they need. I have seen it, even in my short time here.
