I know they say that number is creeping down, but that's still a little unsettling.
Someone has brought this up before, but do they have restrictions on other type of work you can do on the side while awaiting training? Specifically flying part 91 type stuff or working side gigs.
So i just flew with a captain today and one of his friends interviewed in july and they gave him a december class date.
Now, they have been improving the amount of time it takes to get through training because they've been constantly getting more check airmen and they've lowered the amount of people being hired (i.e. last class i heard about had only 7 pilots) so my assumption is they will push people through quicker than it was this last year.
As far as doing something in-between, I don't know... what they did offer us, was to be an IPT instructor while waiting to go to sim since it took so long. That pays better as well.
