Instead of just picking whatever line management creates, we get to build our lines from scratch according to our needs. Same with reserve. I don't like line bidding either but the vacation trip drop associated with it is too good to give up. Four months out of each year most of us fly 6 days for very close to full line pay.
The other issue is the way PBS is being broached is sleazy. Rather than just put it in the TA with the parameters visible for all to see there will be a swapa committee talking with the company after the fact with minimal pilot input knowing swapa. Trust with the company and swapa is very low right now. This is a subject that needs to be discussed out in the open with lots of input, not in some closed door session.
