I am totally against sick leave abuse, but that should be up to the Chief Pilots to crack down on. I do not want a union rep cracking down and getting anyone fired. They should be like lawyers, defend pilots even when they don't like what they did.
It has always been the CP's responsibiity to crack down on sick leave abusers. The abuser would be getting himself fired.
A lawyer who aids a client in committing perjury runs the risk of being disbarred or even worse. The Rep is there to protect the member, but if he knew the member was lying about the use of sick leave he is under no obligation to aid in the fraud.
