"Aren't exactly line pilots" may not be defending management, but it is certainly not defending line pilots either. Line Check Airman bid the same lines all "line pilots" do, we hold what our seniority can hold, we pay ALPA dues, we bid the same vacation, we fly schedules subjective to schedulings whim. The difference is I teach, grade and submit paperwork for which I earn 25% override. For the LCA tag, which was earned, I'm not willing to lock my schedule 6 days in advance? I'm not more or less a management pilot; I'm a line pilot that's a check airman. I've earned every benefit that's in the contract I voted on.
