Sluggo, I have no idea what Airlines are planning. But I remember when all the Majors had Real first class and now most don't.
My point is "Why did the Company want this language"? My guess is they know something we don't, otherwise what is the purpose in changing it.
Maybe this in't a big deal if you are Junior on the 757 or A300. I guess maybe you are not on the MD-11 or 777. Currently, if you Deadhead over to Europe or Asia you qualify for Real First Class and definitely qualify for Business class per the current Contract.
All the US international carriers now have a 2 tier economy section. You pay a little more for a little more leg room and pitch and you get a free Drink.
Will they increase this option with a Lay Flat seat? I really don't know.
But if they do, this TA will make us ride back there instead of up front where we belong.
The TA language now Memorializes Lay flat seats verse Business Class or Higher.
