I know that a lot of newbies and seasoned veterans are here... but honestly guys... it still is a decent place to be. The checks haven't bounced yet, we are still flying...and we can still get from point A to point B.
I am not senior...at the bottom of the Captains list...I have to come in the night before every @#$# reserve period...my family doesn't see me...I don't earn much more than I did as a senior FO....who knows if, when, how I will move on in my career.....etc etc etc.
HAVING SAID THAT... the planes are well taken care of... I look forward to working with my crews... when I leave my job...I am stress free for a few days...(and believe me, I DID go back to a 'normal job' for a while...) and I get to do something cool for work. We have a great pilot community...and outside of the usual gripers in our group...we have a good bunch of people working for us. I also have a ton of respect for every other pilot out there...either in our group or with another carrier.
We have choices to make...if you don't like it...move on. You know what you got into when you made a choice to become a pilot. I was well warned before I got into this industry what I would have to put up with.
For any new guys hoping to get on with us or another carrier...good luck to you. It is historically a turbulent industry. I am sure I am just preaching to the choir.
