Home every night is a false statement! If you don't live in base as a mid or better seniority capt or FO; ie, if you live more than 100 miles from base; you need a local crash pad or room you rent. Why?, because you will start early, end late in your assigned base, not necessarily where you live. In reality you will be "home" 6-7 nights per month maximum, unless you live (within 100 miles) of your base. By the way, just remember that it's not Orlando, Tampa, or Phoenix; its Sanford (45 min from Orlando on a good day); St Petersburg (yep, 30 minutes from Tampa on a good day); and Punta Gorda ( uh, 45 minutes from anywhere). Remember, as a commuter, you rely on airline schedules into the major cities; not like you choose when to arrive at your base. Anyone commuting needs to be in base on average 12-18 hrs before sign in due to major airport/airline schedules. This is not an airline that you commute in on your trip day! Therefore, home every night is only for non-new hires! A lot of G4 pilots are "home" less than 10 nights per month (that is unless you call a crash pad or room rental home). Listen to this thread. A major contract issue is schedules, as opposed to pay. Single days off are killing this airline. If the contract will provide 3-4 day off in a row guarantee; the minimums to get to G4 will instantly double. Why?, a lot of guys will stay!
