I know a lot of people aren't cut out for the military but this makes me think twice about the regionals and living below the poverty level for the first couple years.
It's all a gamble. There are plenty of military guys that skipped regionals altogether and are flying in the Majors right now. There are also plenty that got turned down by those majors and went to regionals or quit flying altogether. For every guy I meet in the Jumpseat that said "I was prior military" I meet another guy at my regional that says the same thing. I meet even more in real life that say "Yea, I used to fly but couldn't get on anywhere so I'm doing something else". Not knocking military training or flying...just saying it's not the promised land of aviation anymore. Everyone's gotta pretty even shot of landing a job.
