Default Please Vote For C Kern LEC44 F/O Rep

Members of Council 44:

The voting window is now open.

As you make your selections, consider this: How has the vast experience and incumbency of some candidates served you? Are you better off now than you were 3 years ago because of it?

Experience is important but not everything and meaningless if it fosters an ability to label your constituents irresponsible if they disagree with your representation of them. Do you want a candidate that communicates with clarity and candor or one that has conflicted convictions and represents you like a chameleon? Do you want a representative who “hears” you, albeit under threat of recall, or a representative who listens to you? Which candidates have a better understanding of transparency?

We have all heard of the Manchurian candidate. Now, we may have Maskirovka candidates. My heritage is German, my Russian limited, but I favor perestroika and glasnost, traits I think a candidate must have to best represent you. Which candidates do you think will support Captain Malone’s proposed Ethics Committee?

Engagements with the Company need to change from “pro-active”, a cliché, to “pro advocate”. We fly for the most awarded airline. We are identified as the most admired employees. Yet our Membership has had to reject proposals passed down through our Leadership that would make us the most admonished. A representative cannot be timid and has to be able to say no, as often and as necessary, not because he can say no but because he realizes it is required to get to yes.

We need candidates who know what a management problem is and avoids taking the “bull in China shop approach to the elephant in the room” approach to “fix” it. It is not the membership’s responsibility to keep the genies in their bottles. That job belongs to your representative.

Representing you is not an “entry-level” position. Indeed, it is not amateur hour, and those candidates who support reform and restoration are no amateurs. MEC Chairman Captain Malone has identified the problems and listens to the Membership. He is addressing us and working hard to make the needed corrections. He needs candidates who support, not thwart, efforts to promote the pilot profession and best represent you.

Those candidates are C44 Three plus One.

“Bottoms Up” Representation starts here and starts now.

Stay informed. Stay engaged. Please take the time and VOTE.
