When I was hired, the company was receiving new -900s. The total delivery number was 30 and all were delivered. During that time AAG announced the transfer of 47 -700s from Envoy. Delivery started last summer. In January, the transfer will be halted and the delivery of the next batch of 24 -900s begins. Thus far, there have been adjustments to the -700 transfer. There is talk of parking the -200s in the event staffing becomes a larger issue (personally, I believe staffing will become a larger issue.).
I was at Comair for 15 years and stayed until Delta shut us down. The last 2-3 years was a classic example of "word of mouth with a little lip service."
I don't think anyone would deny that staffing will become a larger issue for all regional airlines. And yes, I do think the company is insane for saying they want 1,000 pilots by the end of 2017, and 1500 by the end of 2018. If they truly wanted that, they would make PSA more attractive. It simply isn't going to happen. We'll just have to wait and see what solution they come up with...
