As for the spike in May....well...don't replenish a use/lose sick leave program for 12,500+ pilots on the same day. Use their hire date as the basis for replenishment. That will dampen the May spike.
And if our monthly schedule averages 10% more hours, our sick usage should increase respectively. I used to call in sick for a 3-4 day trip, now when I do it's a 4-5 day. Even if I'm not sick more, I use more sick hours.
