I hope that the company IS sincere in wanting 1500 more pilots! If they actually want that many pilots, they're going to make this place MUCH more attractive. And they'll have to sweeten the pot for BOTH new hires AND current employees. This crap of allowing the company to offer bonuses to new hires, only, simply cannot happen. ALPA cannot let the company compensate select unionized employees outside of the collective bargaining agreement. I realize that other pilot groups have allowed their company management to get away with that crap, but we should fight with every last breath to keep ALPA from allowing it here.
Nope, they are over announcing needing that many to try and capture the growth thing that worked so well last year and earlier this year.
Once it fizzles out then they'll announce more planes, then once that fizzles out they'll, "remain in productive flow increase talks".
Republic didn't have staffing problems until American Connection died and growth became replacement, then Delta connection was going to die and new aircraft would be replacement, then the Q-400 parking would cause more replacements in lieu of growth.
