I am contemplating enlisting while I finish college (about two years left to go) and work on my PPL. Would enlisting provide an advantage with attaining a UPT slot? Is this an advisable path?

I wouldn't bother enlisting. The only reason I did it was to have the ANG pay for my college education. Since you are already halfway through college, if you can afford it, I'd advise you get your PPL without the enlistment. As blastoff said, both the ANG and the AFRC are desperate for candidates, so I'd roll the dice as a street hire.
