Although AFRC may be fine with candidates with no prior-service, I've read that the ANG is far more friendly to members of their unit in terms of UPT slots. Is there any truth to this?
Thanks.
That is true indeed. Not just for the ANG, but AFRC too. We just sent a former boom operator to pilot training with pretty much no interview at all, because we all knew and liked the kid. If you do decide to enlist, try to get a job working closely with ops so the pilots can get to know you. BUT.....a word to the wise: make sure you are good at your enlisted job before you apply for a pilot position. Its best that you don't appear entitled just because you know the pilots.
If it comes down to a decision between ANG and AFRC, go guard. No question.
