It all drowned me. When I went back to training, I took them all in for a second fitting and re-alteration. Still didn't fit right.
Had to get a local seamstress to alter the pants a third time.
My advice...Go to crew outfitters for the package deal. Get extra shirts online and extra black pants from Kohl's, JC Penny's, Macy, wherever. I'm still wearing my black patent leather uniform shoes I was issued in ROTC 25+ years ago. Work great and broken in. With about 1/4 inch of polish on them, I won't ever put polish on them again...just buff em out! Though, I will probably end up with Ropers eventually.
I hear you on the tailoring. But the overall construction and materials of the Abbott jacket seemed so much better to me than the other options, especially if you will be spending much time where it's cold.
Unless you are starting from scratch, the packages are probably more than what you need or need to spend.
