16,150 applicants in which I bet 2/3's of which also have apps in with United, Delta, SWA, JB, UPS, FedEx, etc. This industry hasn't been known to have many applicants holding out for one company. I'm not saying there aren't any of them in there, but the majority of the people looking to get hired by a major shotgun their apps out to everyone and usually take the first bite. Sooner or later, the big pot is going to start to dry up. It may take 3-5 years when mandatory retirements get into full swing, but it'll happen. UAL and DAL both hired over 1,500 people this year alone. A good number of those people may have apps in with AA that are still active and just chose not to put'm back into draft (private) mode.
