Junior FO pay needs to be improved. It's not the be all end all but it's a start. Especially at an airline with the best benefits and work rules in the regional industry. And it's not the lucky few going to the major/legacy airlines.... 400 pilots from XJT this year and 150 were FOs... Compared to like 10 total pilots from Mesa.....XJT isn't perfect but the grass is a lot greener then a majority of other regionals. I actually have a real 401k, medical benefits and vacation unlike a lot of our peers... People tend to forget about all that and just see Bonus's and upgrade time....
I agree with you that's why I chose to fly for Expressjet over other offers. Upgrades and bonuses are not the most important things but I personally don't think my salary is commensurate with the investment, education, and time I put forth to get to this point. People are going to the majors sure but how many years have they been at it to get a descent pay check finally, that most start getting right out of college. All I'm saying is it shouldn't be treated as a stepping stone mentality because for a lot of folks it's not. I don't know if I'll get to a major but I do want to improve were I'm at if I can. Status quo gets you no where.
