There are a few problems with your scenarios:
First, "vacation low" bidders are prohibited from holding a hybrid line.
Second, the few remaining trips that may have gone to a junior vacation low bidder, will go to a more senior hybrid line-awardee.
You may say that this respects seniority, and it does in a way, but vacation low gives a pilot a few months of reprieve from a full year of reserve hell.
