Being a Yank I can say this as it is true, American's on the radio are the worst.

Yes! Moreover, not only did you fail to point out that the number 3 is not pronounced like the number 3 but rather like
tree (you know the plant thing that people like to axe besides from a question), but also that the altimeter setting must be read back with the prefix QNH and with the appropriate unit suffix.
I also respectfully disagree that Delta is the worst. Prior to flying Airtran's Caribbean routes, SW had by far the WORST Radio Telephony procedures!
I do agree with you though, that correct radio phraseology has decreased dramatically. Some SW crews think it's cool to use slang e.g. in CUN, the result is confusion between ATC and SW and double or triple of transmissions needed.
