Unless you fly a Bondurante (?), you aren't going to crash cuz a jumpseater sat in the back, .........and "many" medical events? Really?
Complying with the FOM is hard? Having etiquette is hard? I don't really think they are hard. Honestly going through life thinking rules don't apply to you or are optional seems far more stressful and hard to me.
As a captain you know that every day 1Ps just head to the back with out checking in either because of bad gate agents or lack of knowledge about Delta's system.
As a captain you also know that anytime a you a receive a "stay at gate for performance" message followed by a WDR showing a jumpseater that jumpseater must sit in the cockpit. I don't really give 2 $hips if the plane won't fall out of the sky. I follow the rule. Just like I know wearing a hat won't make a better pilot. I still wear it because it is a rule.
Also I am sure you are aware that part of CRM is using all available resources to solve problems. If you don't readily know what resources are available to you then how can you use them?
My original post was simply pointing out an error by another poster. If you don't find them useful that is your right, however your response makes you seem more like a child then a captain.
