Overheard an exchange between IOE student and check airman getting ready for his 700 check out in the crew room. Check airman said he was going to take the deparure due to surface winds and he can do the rest of the flight. IOE kid said he'd do better if he himself made the takeoff in 30kt x/w because he was from ERAU so he knows the CRJ very well. Can't make this stuff up.
