Some selected events:
- 17th century: Catholics sack the city of Magdeburg/Germany: roughly 30,000 Protestants were slain. "In a single church fifty women were found beheaded," reported poet Friedrich Schiller, "and infants still sucking the breasts of their lifeless mothers.
- "What happened to his people was described by an eyewitness:
"The Spaniards found pleasure in inventing all kinds of odd cruelties ... They built a long gibbet, long enough for the toes to touch the ground to prevent strangling, and hanged thirteen [natives] at a time in honor of Christ Our Saviour and the twelve Apostles... then, straw was wrapped around their torn bodies and they were burned alive."
- Italy helped establish, during WWII, death camps in Croatia killing tens of thousands of Jews and native Serbs.
It's not limited to these people. I'm not a sympathizer but to think "we" as in the Christian/Catholic population didn't commit the same crimes is just sticking your head in the sand.
When anyone makes these Christian/Muslim comparisons please remember these points:
Muslims acting in this manner are following the commands of the Quran and the example of Muhammad.
Christians acting in this manner are acting in complete opposition of the Biblical commands and example of Christ.
