Well that last post was B.S. I did not get an interview at United in the late 80s or early 90s even though my Dad was a pilot there and I had letters of reccomendation from several line pilots and flight managers. Note that I did not even get an interview despite over 7000 hours of flight time, 6000 of which were part 121. And 300 and 500 hour "special interest" pilots were hired.

We even had an F/O here at cactusland who busted her first interview at UAL and was put into a mentoring program at UAL to guide her through her reapplication. After a year and a half of below average flying here she was off to DEN.

Of course there are exceptions, and almost 99% of our non white male pilots here are very good, but that whole affirmative action thing still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth even though I am probably better off for not having been hired there. I certainly have had fun here.
