But:
Have you determined our $$ cost of extending the contract for two years? I know United has.
Have you determined the incremental revenue value that United places on their ULR flying above the current international flying we iterate? I know United has.
Although not easily quantifiable, have you determined QOL value lost?
Have you come to the conclusion that even though United approached us, which has happened how many times in our career, that the rumored AIP is the best they can offer?

Just asking, because I haven't.
Most of what you want to know from the company's plan will never be shared with the line pilot, not now or in section 6. So you might as well remove that from the equation because it will always just be a guess.

If you are for or against the extension you can play all the "what if games in the world" you want. What you can not do is is discount facts (once produced).

Let us assume that the 13% is in fact a true number.

1) For a new hire that is about $8,000 more a year (national monthly payment on a 30-year mortgage near $1,000). Eight payments does make a difference to this pilot.

2) For a 12 year 737 Captain that is $28,000 more a year (cost of adding a in ground pool). This pilot gets increased QOL at home.

3) For a 12 year 777 Captain that is $5,600 in additional retirement contributions each year (average monthly retire health care costs $600). This pilot enjoys increased security for retirement.

4) For every pilot that value time off over compensation you can choose to make the same, but work two less days a bid period. 24 extra days off a year. This group of pilots gets increases in how they spend their time away from work.

For many pilots the increase will be meaningful, even if it does not meet some people's expectations. We all need to be respectful of that.
