I heard of a situation recently where an Asian based company hired a US pilot and supposedly offered to pay for his Gulfstream type. The guy "passed" his (believed to be FAA) type ride at a well known sim training center at an overseas location. Immediately after passing his ride, the ovserseas version of an FAA inspector entered the sim and had the pilot complete another checkride (presumably for foreign licensing). The pilot failed the second ride as there was a VFR maneuver for which he had no previous training (touch & go). The pilot was not issued an FAA type rating and was out of a job. Make sure to ask alot of questions and if there are promises made, get them in writing...
