I would not advocate waiving. but just to be clear, a reserve, unaugmented, given the right circumstances, can have a combined RAP +FDP that equal 16 hours, that is allowed to have an extension of up to 2 hours for a max total day of 18 hours.

It has been mentioned in ALPA emails, the other forum, and I found an FAA letter linked below that clearly states extensions to an RAP+FDP are subject to an extension of up to 2 hours.
Again, I don't advocate extending, just sharing some knowledge a lot of folks don't know about.
