The company has the right to run the operation, including making changes to procedures, without every conceivable checklist change being labeled a status quo violation. Don't become the Boy who Cried Wolf. I suspect this is just Flight Standards changing procedures for reasons deemed important to them and ultimately for the betterment of the airline.

I don't think saving some bucks at the expense of the unionized pilots as part of an anti labor mindset was an issue.
