117 was a total swing and a miss. The FAA told the company they were going to have to pay more money and the company just passed the costs on down to their pilots.
Your compensation and the days necessary to achieve it are not, and never will be, an FAA concern. In my experience, the benefits to 117 are mid sequence, and at the end of sequences, where I was frequently treated to reduced rest.
