My source at United SOC (and within Mesa--a person higher than your mechanics' tales) say otherwise.

United is loving the EJet/East Coast service in IAD--they want that to continue. They are more likely to do new-market Mexico flying with Skywest 700s, which makes sense since we're taking over longer-haul previously-Skywest 700 routes like IAH-ONT. Skywest 700s can easily compete with AA 900 service out of DFW on most Mexico markets large and small.

Also--it's averaging closer to 5 RON Ejets in IAD a night--not 2. It's not a big deal if there aren't any EJets "in the hangar." We regularly have service checks done in OKC and I believe IAD. They're new planes--they don't need a lot of touch-time or parts in IAH to keep flying.

Lastly, the next 15 EJets were originally Republic deliveries. United and Republic are still working out what they can't staff and what they can, but any regional attempting to stop the bleeding will obviously push hard to cut the most problematic portions of their schedule from the system first...Republic Q/Ejet east coast flying is the most likely candidate for replacement by an another operation.

My source says we'll have 700s or EJets in EWR by the end of 2016--I'm willing to put money on it. Maintenance always hears about these things after the fact--not before. You can ship parts on FedEx last-minute on a much tighter deadline than a crew for a 4-day
