The comfort hotels discount rocks. I used it in Europe and saved 250 bucks a night.
No offense, but you and RV5M sound like guys who didn't go to college or grew up in a developing country--you obviously have no idea what is considered "standard/acceptable" for accommodations among any professional employment sector or at any other regional airline.
Choice Hotels/LaQuintas are where blue collar workers and budget travelers stay--truck drivers, lower-middle class families going to DisneyWorld, etc..
TSA stays at Fairfields/Marriotts/Hiltons in most of the cities where we stay in trailer-trash Choice Hotel properties. RAH stays in Hiltons and DoubleTrees.
I've never seen another airline crew--regional or otherwise--at 80-90% of the hotels we stay at (unless they're cheapo guys commuting in and paying on their own dime).
Sorry you and RV5M have had such impoverished childhoods that you think a BDL LaQuinta/PIT Days Inn/SDF Ramada are acceptable-quality places to live half the month. Dang.
