Unfortunately I could not go back to sleep. The trip ended up canceling but I would have been awake more than 16 hours prior to arriving at our destination. I thought an R1 was from 0400-1600? What's the point of being assigned a RAP if they can give you a trip any time they see fit? I ASAPed that little gem.
Depending on what the flight time is you are legal until 8pm with a RAP of 4am. I think they call so early so they can cross it off their list. If we could get some decent reserve rules in the contract it would state that trips would need to start within the availability period. This is just a way that they get to maximize their reserve utilization. They get to have you available all day and then not burn a R3 for the overnight at time when you should be off. They do the same thing with ready reserve. Have you sit all day they assign you a trip that starts after you should be off.
