Check airman today told me that the book doesn't differentiate between RNAV off the ground or (like most IAH SIDs) RNAV HDG mode departures. It clearly says all RNAV SIDs and STARs will be flown with the autopilot on. The profiles say's at acceleration altitude, "Climb sequence, autopilot on." He said it's clear cut and I believe those who are "interpreting it otherwise" are wrong. Hand fly your visual approach and non-RNAV SID and STAR all day long...
