Good post. To think the company wouldn't build SC's as a result of the DEN irrops is shortsighted. FAR117 has a lot to do with reserve short calls versus the previous iteration of rest rules. The meter running means the company is losing availability every minute after the SC start time.
With all the bids that have taken place anyone that is on reserve other than new hires have had bidding options to get themselves off reserve somewhere.
The meter was ALWAYS running after the SC start time, before FAR 117, so I don't know what you're talking about. What are you trying to say...that under the old system a SC's duty day started when he showed for a trip? Absolutely false. Max duty day was determined from the start of the SC. Just like under FAR 117. True story. If you're gonna come on here talking about "reasonable posts", try to stay factual.
OH...and if your base shrinks by 300 pilots (about 1/3), you may get struck on RSV if you don't want to commute. Just a thought.
