Funny part of it is your pilot group getting all hot and bothered to fly these airplanes when not to long ago you scoffed at pilots flying them as substandard and beneath you.

Wow. I'm not even a Delta guy and this statement reeks of so much victimization and ill-informed bum-hurt it's just sad. The 190 is an RJ only because airline management has brainwashed you into believing it. The 2400-mile range, extended over-water capabilities and greater fuel capacity than a DC9-30 or 717 make it squarely a mainline jet. The current rates may stink but it's 300-ish guys that will be flying it on DL property that otherwise wouldn't be DL pilots at all. Wanna bet they are indeed "pacing back and forth" to fly it vs staying at their current regional, corporate or retired-mil gigs?
