Thanks for the advice. My comment had nothing to do with payrates and everything to do with getting time to spend with my family and friends. The point, which I guess was made poorly, was that SW is grabbing as much flying as they can from all the partners while other airlines struggle to staff it. Since we have no contract that will protect us, the company can just take all this flying and force it on our pilot group. They get premium pay from our partners to cover the lift for them and they force it on us at straight pay. And our student association just tells us "Sorry we would like to make the pairings better, but since we are adding all the flying last minute, we just have to take what they can give us."
It is absolute ridiculous that we are getting forced to fly 90+ hours for the past 18-24 months. It is even more asinine that we don't have enough staff so I can drop a min credit RT that was added to my schedule to get me to 92 hours and would give me an extra day at home. Oh and if I try to call in sick, then I get to have a special meeting with my CP. Nevermind the fact that CS tells us if we need time off to call in sick.
I would log off the forums, but what the hell else am I supposed to do on all my 3 and 4 hour sits in SLC, SFO, IAH and SEA? And you are right, I am disillusioned because it is bull$hit that someone who bids in the top 30% of their base cannot fly the trips their seniority holds because the company would rather have 60% reserve coverage for the E175 flying and doesn't give a crap about any of the RJ pilots.
So my point was I don't give a crap how much money we make in profit sharing, because we take 6% of that and split it among 3800 pilots. I would rather have the time at home with my kids. I appreciate the concern and I wish our management or association gave a crap about fixing some of these problems.
