You are referring to the -300? I haven't seen the numbers lately, but I recall the seat specific fuel consumption was said to be "in a league of its own" when we acquired the 300. Over the years I assumed something on the order of the 737-900 was matching it. Why carriers didn't lobby for more 757-300 production is beyond my grasp. You couldn't pry the handful that exist away from us and CO/UA. Just think what they'd be like with a new engine, tweaks on the wing, and a 787 style instrumentation suite. Add the latest interior with the thinner seats and we'd be talking 250 seat airborne Prius-basher. Just thinking about the missed opportunity makes me loathe the 737 even more!
