Default Spirit of NKS, Part II

Can someone explain to me how delaying the process of flattening the slope on the pay scale is beneficial for the pilot group? It seems to me, the company proposal is trying to keep the majority of the pilots (year 2-8) in a zone where they make substantially less than their peers. This seems to be a win for the company as it keeps a majority of the pilots in a sliding window of further below industry average rates throughout the duration of a contract term. If we delay fixing this until the next contract 2020 or later, will we not be in the same position we are in now? Unless a majority of year 3-6 guys leave.

Edit: Sorry. Didn't realize guys were already talking about this as I was slow to type and think!
