Letter dropped to your chief pilot or an email. Id go email so you have an electronic copy of when you sent it and what it said. I'd give at least 2 weeks as most companies require that to pay you out unused vacation or sick time accrued if you have any and if they pay it. And some require you don't call in sick that last 2 weeks to get paid out as well.
