If anything, Munoz was drafted into the position. It's no mistake the he chose a medical respite after being appointed - one of two things, he used it to get up to speed on airlines operations or he really has a weak heart. In either case, it's a shame he choose to put the United Employee and their families in harms way as a result of his shortcomings/gambit.
Wow either you're making some hughly speculative assumptions or you had a seat at the a United BOD, I'll say the former.
Smisek worked for the BOD not the other way around, collectively they were his boss. I have no idea what occurred, just like you don't. But there certainly could have been a minority dissenting opinion on the BOD that Oscsr could have been part of.
I have no problem fighting management, totally supported fighting Smisek to the max, and Todd Insler may have been the right man for the job against Smisek.
None of us know how it will turn out with Oscar. All I'm saying is the man appears to be a good leader that understands having a happy work force and happy customers is a high priority. All I say is give him the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. Putting a confrontational MC now may prove to backfire. I've had my issues with Heppner, but I've been told from several sources inside the MEC the only reason we have this TA is due to the solid working relationship between Oscar and Heppner on the UAL BOD over the last few years. If that is true then great job Jay Heppner.
To insinuate Oscar faked a hear attack is pretty low and heartless (no pun intended).
